Abstract
Based on the ongoing Care(4)Housing research project, centred on the idea of ‘care through design’ to addressing housing precarity in Portugal, the presentation focuses on the application of mixed methods, and the temporality in which it occurs. We started by applying an ethnographic approach, leading to the creation of a self-census and research by design workshops. Care(4)Housing produced diverse materials co-created with inhabitants of various neighbourhoods on the outskirts of Lisbon, later restituted and appropriated by them, mostly migrants and racialised communities. We intend to reflect on the use of co-creation methodologies while addressing the complexities of the urban processes involved (evictions, land occupations, resettlements), including the temporal dimension of collaborative work.
