Abstract
This study analyzed the satisfaction of caregivers toward the presence of professional hospital clowns by developing the Caregivers Satisfaction with Hospital Clowning Questionnaire (CS-HCQ). The questionnaire was administered at seven different hospitals (one in Italy; three in Spain; and three in Portugal). The total sample was composed of 841 parents (201 in Italy; 540 in Spain; 100 in Portugal). The factorial structure of the CS-HCQ was analyzed by first conducting an Exploratory Factor Analysis and a Partial Confirmatory Factor Analysis to determine the plausibility of the EFA structure (both using 30% of the total sample), followed by Confirmatory Factor Analyses (tested with the remaining 70% of the Total Sample). Comparisons between countries were also tested. Both the PCFA and the CFA showed acceptable fit on a 2-factor model solution. Results suggest that CS-CHQ can be a valuable instrument to gather brief information about caregivers satisfaction with the Hospital Clowns.
