Abstract
Os estudos sobre as elites locais são recentes no mundo académico e implicam um suporte teórico e uma metodologia rigorosos. A selecção e o tratamento de fontes em muito contribuíram para abrir novas linhas de investigação que foram seguidas fielmente por uma nova geração de cientistas sociais. Aqui são expostas a metodologia e as principais fontes a serem utilizadas, com exemplos práticos, como o recurso à memória oral e até mesmo à literatura, para além das fontes institucionais, tanto locais como nacionais, e da bibliografia de referência.
