Abstract
Partindo da observação do contraste entre o Bairro da Encarnação e Olivais Norte, contíguos no espaço, mas de descontinuidade tipológica inegável, procura-se construir um argumento sobre as razões subjacentes a este contraste, que acontece depois de 1959, com a publicação do Decreto-Lei no 42 454 e a intervenção da Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, através do Gabinete Técnico de Habitação. Relevam-se os aspetos culturais, a par dos fenómenos urbanos e demográficos, da esfera da sociologia e geografia; jogando assim com um método de pesquisa e análise que se pretende interdisciplinar, tal como é preconizado pela Morfologia Urbana.
