Abstract
Solidarity Economy (SolEco) – Innovating practices in SE ■ SE – Primacy of social objectives over capital. Reinvestment of at least most of the profits to carry out social goals. Voluntary and open membership. Externalities of globalization and the inefficiency of of public institutions in mediating new rights-based and redistributive have led to a proliferation of community-based economic initiatives (CEIs). (Lockyer and Veteto, 2013 ; De Angelis, 2017 ; Miller, 2007) ■ Solidarity Economy (SolEco) - used in reference to emerging grassroots movements that organize CEIs, based in webs of mutual recognition and support, aimed at building democratic alternatives to the economic orthodoxy. (Seyfang, 2015) Core goal of SolEco - Redefine the economic space by upscaling, giving visibility to and promoting the institutional recognition of CEIs. (Esteves, 2021) 3
