Abstract
Abstract:
From the creation of the Benguela Railway (CFB), established in 1899 by Robert Williams – although the CFB began operations in 1905 – taking advantage of the establishment of the port in the city of Lobito and under the imperialist vision of the British Cecil John B. Rhodes, of which Williams was a collaborator, who sought to facilitate the movement of his mining activities through the main Afro-Australian ports and all the copper from Central Africa – from the Congolese mining area of Katanga (Shaba) and British Northern Rhodesia (Zambia) – to the current Lobito Corridor and how this can help develop the economy of the DRC and Zambia – and, by extension, Angola – through the modernized CFB or Lobito Atlantic Railway (LAR).
