(English) The present and past of Casas do Povo in Portugal: Architecture, community and memory

(Spanish/Castilian) Presente y pasado de las Casas do Povo en Portugal: Arquitectura, comunidad y memoria

Este artigo considera os matizes da materialização concreta da instituição Casa do Povo em Portugal nos últimos 90 anos, através da análise de um conjunto representativo de exemplos e de uma abordagem abrangente às diferentes arquiteturas da Casa, ao seu passado e ao seu destino: testemunhos-chave para a memória de cada comunidade cujos cambiantes são relevantes para o entendimento do país no seu todo. ____ This paper considers the nuances acquired by the institution Casa do Povo as it materialized in Portugal over the last 90 years, through the analysis of a representative sample of examples and a comprehensive perspective of its varying architectures, their past and their fortune: key testimonies for the memory of each single community, their modulation is relevant in our understanding of the country.
