The primitive hydraulic system of the "new convent". Contribution of archeological works to the Convent of Christ, Tomar. The Convent of Christ archeological works helped to provide knowledge of the hydraulic system for water supply and wastewater drainage in the 16th Century. Castilho was influenced by readings of the time on the classical architecture that was specifically reflected in the hydraulic sistem. Its design and implementation show a copncern for matters of hygiene and helth in the community it was intended to serve.
