Abstract
"The periphery is a deceptively simple notion. It is first of all a geographical notion, highlighting a spatial vision of distance with respect to a center. Today, multiple forms of distance present themselves simultaneously to think about contemporary peripheries and to propose solutions. To simple territorial distance are now added the social, material and symbolic dimensions of peripherality.
The workshop and the final debate will endeavor to account for this plurality, but also to outline different strategies to reach centrality(ies) and confront cultural actors with identity-building and (self-)governance mechanisms. One of the major challenges will be to identify the levers that make it possible to move from the resolution of a singular situation, which would only be effective for itself, to a strategy adapted to all the undesirable peripheralities"
