Abstract
Nas últimas duas décadas e meia, os incêndios devastaram uma extensão equivalente a um terço do território de Portugal. Um ritmo que deixa "invejosas" as chamas que desflorestam a Amazónia. Nestes ataques, o saldo tem sido tenebroso: dezenas de mortos, milhares de casas calcinadas e a destruição de pinhais, eucaliptais e montados de sobro e azinho, com efeitos sociais e económicos aterradores. Jamais na longa História de Portugal, de intermináveis e batalhas sanguinárias, um outro inimigo conseguiu o prodígio de tão rápida, fácil e dilacerante destruição.
