Abstract The evolution of Development concepts, since the Second World War, highlights three major phases: until the 1970s, of the predominance of a hostage Development concept of Economic Growth; in the last 40 years, with the emergence of new Alternative Development concepts, highlighting Sustainable Development, Human Development and Local/Community Development; and a third, corresponding to a post-development criticism, with the proposal of alternative concepts to Development. The analysis of these different proposals allows us to have a very rich and contrasted vision of the themes hosted by these designations. In turn, the concepts of Social Economy and Solidarity Economy show a critical evolution and openness to new challenges, namely the consideration of a Plural Economy, the fusion between Economy and Democracy and the renewal of the theme of the Commons, as an alternative to the approaches of the State and the Market. Resumo A evolução dos conceitos de Desenvolvimento, desde a Segunda Guerra Mundial, evidencia três grandes fases: até aos anos 1970, do predomínio de um conceito de Desenvolvimento refém do Crescimento Económico; nos últimos 40 anos, com o surgimento de novos conceitos de Desenvolvimento Alternativo, destacando-se os de Desenvolvimento Sustentável, Desenvolvimento Humano e Desenvolvimento Local/Comunitário; e uma terceira, correspondendo a uma crítica pós- desenvolvimentista, com a proposta de conceitos alternativos ao Desenvolvimento. A análise destas diferentes propostas permite ter uma visão muito rica e contrastada dos temas albergados por essas designações. Por seu turno os conceitos de Economia Social e de Economia Solidária demonstram uma evolução crítica e abertura a novos desafios, nomeadamente quanto à consideração de uma Economia Plural, quanto á fusão entre Economia e Democracia e quanto à renovação do tema dos Comuns, em alternativa às abordagens do Estado e do Mercado.
