In an online study (N = 259), epistemic emotions (interest, surprise) and perceived credibility mediated the relation betw een prior
political beliefs in the democratic system and accuracy ratings as w ell as sharing intentions w hen exposed to political true and fake new s.
Unexpectedly, the emotions’ impact w as mediated by perceived credibility.
