Jaime Lourenço is originally from Castelo Branco and currently lives in Lisbon. He holds a PhD in Communication Sciences from ISCTE-IUL, a Master's degree in Journalism, and a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communication from the School of Social Communication of the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon.
The study of journalistic practices and specializations has been the central topic of his research. He is an Assistant Professor at the Autonomous University of Lisbon (UAL), where he coordinates the Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences, and a researcher at the Nova Institute of Communication (ICNova), the Laboratory for Applied Research in Communication and Media (LIACOM), the Center for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES) at ISCTE, and the Research Center in Media Practices and Skills (NIP-C@M) at UAL.
As a journalist, he directs the magazine AUTÓNOMA and is a columnist for the newspaper Reconquista, with which he has collaborated since 2010 and where he also coordinated a cultural section (Navegações). He worked at Warner Bros. Television Production, on RTP, in the programs Agora Nós and Eurovisão 2018 - Todos a Bordo, on TVI, in the program Cinebox, he was a presenter and production and writing assistant for the program E2 (RTP2), a member of the 4th edition of the RTP Academy and a contributor to publications such as Premiere magazine, the online magazine Metropolis or the newspaper Ensino Magazine and was editor of the film section of ESCSMagazine between 2012 and 2015.
In 2014 he published his first book "Jaime Lourenço, 10 Years in Retrospect", a collection of articles published in various newspapers and magazines, published by RVJ Editores, in 2021 he co-edited the book "Communication, Culture and Cultural Journalism", published by NIP-C@M, in 2023 he co-edited the book "Literacy(ies) & Citizenship(ies)", published by Livros Horizonte, and published "Film Journalism in Portugal", published by RVJ Editores, in 2024, coordinated the two volumes of "Specialty Journalism," published by Livros Horizonte, and in 2026 coordinated the book "Parliamentary Journalism: 50 Years of a Journalistic Specialty," published by Tinta da China.
