Jaime Lourenço is from Castelo Branco and currently resides in Lisboa. He has a PhD in Communication Sciences from ISCTE-IUL, has a master’s degree in Journalism and a bachelor’s in Public Relations and Corporate Communication from Higher School of Communication and Media Studies - Lisbon Polytecnic Institute (ESCS-IPL). The study of Cinema Journalism is the focus of his investigation. He had a doctorate scholarship founded and supported by the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT).
He is a teacher at Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (UAL) and researcher at Centre for Research and Sudies in Sociology (CIES), of ISCTE-IUL and of NIP-C@M, of UAL.
As a journalist, he coordinated a cultural section of the 'Reconquista' newspaper, worked in Warner Bros. Television Production, in RTP, in the 'Agora Nós' and 'Eurovisão 2018' TV shows, interned at TVI, in the 'Cinebox' TV show, was the presenter and the production and redaction assistant for the TV show 'E2' (RTP2), member of the 4th edition of Academia RTP and was a collaborator in publications such as the 'Premiere', the online magazine 'Metropolis' or the 'Ensino Magazine' newspaper and he was the editor of the cinema section of 'ESCSMagazine' between 2012 and 2015.
His master’s thesis, 'Um Olhar sobre o Jornalismo de Cinema na Televisão Portuguesa: O Caso do Cinebox da TVI24', was the first academic work on the subject in Portugal. In 2014 he published his first book 'Jaime Lourenço, 10 Anos em Retrospectiva', a collection of published articles in various newspapers and magazines.
