CV Summary

She has a degree in Sociology from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto and a Ph.D. in Urban Studies from Iscte - University Institute of Lisbon. She is a researcher assistant at DINÂMIA'CET. In 2022/2023 she worked as a guest Assistant Professor of Urban Sociology at Universidade Aberta. She is book review editor of the new journal DIY, Alternative Cultures & Society (Sage) and executive editor of Todas as Artes - Revista Luso-Brasileira de Artes e Cultura [All the Arts - Luso-Brazilian Journal of Arts and Culture], and a member of the scientific and executive committees of the KISMIF International Conference. She is a member of three prestigious scientific research networks on music and culture: International Association for the Study of Popular Music - Portugal (IASPM-PT), of which she is a founding member, Urban Music Studies, Todas as Artes, Todos os Nomes. She recently took part in Cost Action CA21161 - "A new ecosystem of early music studies" (EarlyMuse). Throughout her career, she has participated in several research projects, national and international, on musical careers, do-it-yourself, popular music, underground cultures, and cultural policies. She has recently finished her Ph.D. thesis - Do it together again: redes, fluxos e espaços na construção de carreiras na cena independente portuguesa [Do it together again: networks, flows, and spaces in the construction of careers in the Portuguese independent scene] (SFRH/BD/101849/2014) -, in which she investigated the construction of music careers, in the independent scene, in Portugal. Having artistic careers as one of her main areas of interest, and based on her doctoral research, in 2020 she created the podcast Corda Bamba, in which she talks with guests from various areas about the working conditions and day-to-day life of an artist in Portugal.
