The implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in four countries: what is the role of the European Union?
PhD Scholar
This study will analyze the influence of the European Union (EU) on the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in Portugal, Hungary, the United Kingdom and Mexico, understanding the scope of the EU's role as a global partner in the defense and promotion of human rights. A comparative analysis will be carried out in the four countries of the main policy actions, institutions and ideas, regarding social protection, labor market and civil rights of persons with disabilities, which can be influenced by the experimental governance model of the CRPD, as well as by the models of the Welfare States. The approach of discursive institutionalism applied to document analysis is complemented with interviews with nongovernmental organizations active in the implementation of the CRPD.The study will contribute to the interpretation of the various ways in which human rights are promoted and defended globally, promoting the development and advocacy of human rights policies.
