Elizabeth Fernandes is Head of Audience Insights and Analytics at the Portuguese newspaper “Público”. She started her analytics career with the investigation for the master thesis (2006). She made part of a research project where she developed advanced algorithms (in R) to build models and find trends, patterns and events in biochemical data. Then, she made part of some different projects, she worked in a market research company, in a retail company, in hospitality industry and she taught at the polytechnic university.
She is used to work with different business units to gather key insights to disseminate to key stakeholders, while also providing stakeholders with business recommendations based on insights.
As educational background she has an Applied Mathematics degree followed by the specialization in Applied Statistics and Modelling, and a Master degree in Data Analysis and Decision Support Systems. She also studied some course of Industrial Economics and Multivariate Statistics. More recently she studied the Master Executive in Applied Business Analytics.
Nowadays, she is PhD student at the Information Science and Technology course of ISCTE.
