Fabricio Lamothe Vargas is a PhD Candidate in Modern and Contemporary History at Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon, with research funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) through the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-Iscte). He holds a Master’s degree in Modern and Discoveries History from the NOVA University of Lisbon and a Bachelor’s degree in History from the Fluminense Federal University (Rio de Janeiro, Brasil). His research experience and interests include Modern and Contemporary History, the History of Sexuality, and Social History. His current work focuses on the judicial and medical repression of homosexuality in Portugal between 1912 and 1936 , analyzing the intersection between medico-legal discourses, social control, and the construction of sexual identities.
