Jorge Freitas Branco. Professor of anthropology at Iscte University Institute of Lisbon (r). Senior researcher at CRIA-IUL. He received his PhD from Johannes Gutenberg-Universität in Mainz, Germany, taught at Universidad de La Laguna, Tenerife (1992) and at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2010), and was visiting professor at the universities Leipzig (1996-97), Marburg (2000) and Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (2010), in Recife, Brazil. Carried out field research in Portugal, Atlantic islands (the Madeiras), Germany, Brazil, France, resulting in publications on: materialities, technology, popular cultures, history of anthropology, museums and collections, secularism.
