PhD in Economics (ISCTE-IUL), Msc in Urban and Regional Planning (UTL), Degree in Economics (ISE). Assistent Professor at the Department of Political Economy and Director of the Master Course on Development Studies. Teaches at ISCTE-IUL since 1996 in fields such as Development Economics, Territorial Economics, Urban and Regional Planning and Public Policies in PhD Programmes (Arquitecture) and in Master Programmes (Development Studies, International Studies, Economics and Public Policies, Social and Solidarity Economy and Arquitecture of Contemporaneous Metropolitan Territories). Researcher at Dinâmia-CET. Develops research in fields such as globalization and local governance, urban and regional planning for social innovation and territorial resilience, realist evaluation in public policies and methodology of transdisciplinary research. Developed research in the framework of European experimental programmes (Poverty III, Employment & Adapt, Equal, etc.), national programmes (Iniciativa Bairros Críticos, Programa Rede Social) and international organizations as the ILO (STEP Programme, Project CIARIS, Project BRIDGES) and the OECD (Project IESED). Founding member of the Agency for Territorial Cohesion of the Azores Region (AGECTA) where is developing the Academy for Cohesion in the Azores (ACA). Invited by the Azores Regional Govenment to become a member of the scientific comittee for the Implementation of the Regional Anti-Poverty Strategy (2018-2028).
