Resumo CV

My name is Kiran currently based in Birmingham UK, I am a multi-lingual law Ph.D researcher in the UK and active participant on international research panel conferences as part of the global legal network and community. I am part of the systems social theory working group within the internationally known Research Sociology of Law Committee and Law Society Association.

I am a Researcher and Investigator affiliated with the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-Iscte) at the University Institute of Lisbon, where my work focuses on equality, regulation, and labour governance. I am also a Visiting Researcher at the Research Centre for Tourism, Sustainability and Well-being (CinTurs) at the University of Algarve, a nationally funded research centre recognised by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) for excellence in research.

My research examines issues of equal pay, labour rights, and regulatory governance through a comparative socio-legal lens, with particular emphasis on the lived experiences of migrant workers in the tourism and service sectors. A core component of this work involves engagement with third-sector organisations (IPSS), civil society groups, and community-based organisations operating in the Algarve. These organisations play a critical role in mediating access to work, housing, and social support for migrant communities.

Through this research, I analyse how public institutions, third-sector organisations, and regulatory frameworks interact in practice, and how these interactions shape labour conditions, social inclusion, and access to rights. This work forms part of a broader inquiry into governance, equality, and social justice within contemporary European labour markets.

In parallel, I contribute as a peer reviewer and member of the research working group at the Oñati International Institute for the Sociology of Law, engaging in international academic dialogue on law, regulation, and social policy.
