To understand the forms of mutual assistance and the types of exchanges that arise within the ambit of family relationship, particulary between the intermediate generation that provides the care and the older one that benefits from it. The research field will be limited to a specific zone in the centre of the country - the Baixo Mondego region - and more specifically, to the Soure (rural environment) and Coimbra (urban environment) council areas.
