CV Summary

 

Luísa Pimentel has a B.Sc. in Social Work and a M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Sociology, in the field of Sociology of Family and Everyday Life. She is a Researcher associated with the CIES-IUL and the CICS-Nova/Leiria.

 

Currently, Luísa Pimentel is an assistant professor at the Education and Social Sciences School in the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, where she gives classes and orientates thesis from the B.Sc. in Social Work, the B.Sc. in Social Education, the M.Sc. in Intercultural Mediation and Social Intervention and in the Professional Technical Courses in Intervention in Educational Contexts and in Social and Community Intervention. Also, she is a member of the Scientific Committee for the Professional Technical Course in Intervention in Educational Contexts and one of the coordinators of the 60+ Program (for seniors). Finally, she was a member of the Scientific Committee for the B.Sc. in Social Work, between 2008 and 2019, of the Technical-Scientific Council, between 2009 and 2014, and one of the coordinators of the M.Sc. in Intervention for an Active Ageing, between 2013 and 2017.

 

Luísa Pimentel collaborates with several institutions of higher education through the teaching of several curricular units of M.Sc., in the orientation and evaluation of thesis of M.Sc., as well as in the issuing of opinions on scientific projects and articles. She is also dedicated to the research and the dissemination of knowledge in the areas of Ageing, Family Care for the Elderly and Intergenerational Relationships. She has provided services to the community through the elaboration of community social diagnoses, plans of activities and participation in social institutions.

 

Luísa Pimentel was a social worker, between 1990 and 1992, and a teacher at the Higher Institute Bissaya Barreto, between 1992 and 2008. Also, she was a member of the team of the project "Lis: Velho Rio Con'vida", funded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation under the Intergenerational Program, between 2010 and 2011. Between 2008 and 2010, she participated in the Working Group on Active Ageing, coordinated by EAPN (European Anti-Poverty Network/Portugal). Finally, she was a member of the Advisory Board of the Observatory of Citizenship and Social Intervention of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra, between 2008 and 2012.
