Marcio Amaral is Member of the Executive Commission and Director-General of Programs of INDEG-ISCTE Executive Education and Invited Assistant Professor at ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon. He also lectures regularly at ISCTE partner universities such as UESTC (China), Fundação Getúlio Vargas (Brazil) and ENAM (Mozambique), and has lectured at Fundação Dom Cabral, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and IBMEC (Brazil). His research and teaching focus on the intersections among strategic management, international business, corporate governance and boards of directors. He is author and co-author of several publications and is a speaker at international forums of the strategy and corporate governance communities.
Before entering the academic field, he worked for two decades as a global executive and consultant. His experience includes Xerox Corp., Booz Allen & Hamilton, Go To Market Consultoria and the Brazilian Navy in international assignments in finance, audit, sales and general management up to CEO and corporate director responsibilities. As a consultant, he has led multiple engagements for major corporations, SME, institutional investors, private equity firms and policymaking organizations in diverse settings in Europe and the Americas. He holds a DSc in Business Administration (Corporate Governance and Strategy) from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, an MBA from COPPEAD-Rio de Janeiro University, a BS in Economics from Rio de Janeiro State University and graduated from management programs at The Wharton School and IMD.
