CV Summary

Marcio Amaral is Associate Researcher at the Center for International Studies of ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon and Certified Board Director (CCIe) by IBGC. He previously served as Board Member and Director-General of Programs of INDEG-ISCTE Executive Education (Portugal). He has been a professor, course director, investigator, academic supervisor and visiting scholar in international strategy and corporate governance at ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Fundação Dom Cabral (Brazil), Fundação Getúlio Vargas (Brazil) and ENAM (Mozambique). His research focuses on the intersections among global strategy, international business, corporate governance and boards of directors. 

Before entering the academic field, he worked for two decades as a global executive and consultant. His experience includes Xerox Corp., Booz Allen & Hamilton, Go To Market Consultoria and the Brazilian Navy in international assignments in finance, audit, sales, marketing and general management up to CEO and corporate director responsibilities. He has led multiple top-level engagements for corporations, SMEs, institutional investors, private equity firms and policymaking organizations in 20+ countries.

Marcio Amaral holds a PhD in Business Administration (2013) from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, an MBA (1993) from COPPEAD - Rio de Janeiro Federal University, a BSc in Economics (1988) from Rio de Janeiro State University and has graduated from management programs at The Wharton School and IMD.
