ocial worker, holds a PhD in Social Work from Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon (2019), funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), and a degree in Social Work from the Catholic University of Portugal (2004). He also holds a postgraduate specialisation in Gender Equality. He is an assistant professor at Lusófona University – University Centre of Lisbon, where he teaches several undergraduate and master's level curricular units at the Institute of Social Work. He is an integrated researcher at LusoGlobe – Lusófona Centre on Global Challenges and an associate researcher at the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-Iscte). His research and publications focus on gender, trans identities, LGBTQI+ issues, sex work, violence, discrimination, and social work. His doctoral thesis, which examined the reality of travesti sex work in Portugal, was awarded the APAV Prize for Research (2019) and the Silva Leal Prize (2020). He is a member of the Jurisdictional Council of the Portuguese Association of Social Workers and of the regional board (Lisbon, Tejo and Sado) of the Portuguese Family Planning Association (APF).
