Olga Magano is sociologist and assistant professor at Open University, Department of Social Sciences and Management. She is PhD in Sociology, Master in Intercultural Relations from the Open University and graduated in Sociology from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto. She is researcher at the University Institute of Lisbon, Center for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-IUL). She teaches in the degree in Social Sciences, in the Master in Intercultural Relations and too in the Doctorate in Intercultural Relations. Since the late 90's of the last century, she has been involved in some research on integration and exclusion of Ciganos/Roma in Portugal and participated in research projects about this subject and also participate in a project about Refugees in Portugal. She is also team member of Observatory of Professional Paths and Life of Open University Graduates.
She is member of Portuguese Association of Sociology, where is co-coordinator of the Thematic Section Cultural Diversity and Spaces for Intervention. She is also member of the Gypsy Lore Society and the Network Romani Studies.eu.
