I am a tenure-track Assistant Researcher at Business Research Unit (BRU), Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL). I am also the Co-Coordinator of Visualization at the Digitalization and Advanced Visualization Data Laboratory (DAViD Lab-Iscte) and a board member of ISCTE-CVTT, contributing to initiatives that promote knowledge transfer, innovation, and the application of data-driven methods to societal challenges.
My research focuses on how individuals interpret and act upon data visualizations, with particular attention to the mechanisms underlying trust and decision-making. My key research lines are:
- Understanding the manifestation of individual differences (cognitive and personality traits) in the interaction with information visualization systems.
- Analyzing the presence of cognitive and perceptual biases and developing bias mitigation techniques in decision-making supported by information visualization.
- Investigating how disinformation techniques exploit user trust with information visualization design.
I am also experienced in Game Design focused on Gamification Frameworks and Serious Games development.
At an institutional level, my role at DAViD Lab–Iscte supports the development of advanced visualization infrastructures and the democratization of access to complex datasets, including collaborations with public sector entities. Additionally, I serve as a board member of ISCTE-CVTT, contributing to initiatives that strengthen knowledge transfer, innovation, and collaboration between academia, industry, and public institutions.
I have also been involved in research evaluation, dissemination, and community service, such as reviewing for major conferences and journals and participating in scientific committees (ICGI 2025, 2026), further reflecting my commitment to advancing the field. In addition, I am actively engaged in promoting Open Science practices at Iscte. I contribute to institutional efforts aimed at improving research transparency, accessibility, and dissemination, including my role in the HR Excellence in Research initiative, where I support strategies for communicating scientific results more effectively.
I am currently open to new collaborations (project proposal, PhD or MSc dissertations, etc.) where my expertise can contribute to project development, especially in areas like Information Visualization, User-Centered Design, and Media Studies. If you have a project or idea that could benefit from insights in these fields, I would love to connect and explore how we can work together. I am particularly interested in projects that value user experience and empirical research to drive impactful outcomes.
As life is not all about work, I am also a foodie searching for the best restaurants in the world and cooking what I like best at home. I am also an avid fan and player of Magic: The Gathering.
