CV Summary
Luís Gordete is a PhD researcher in Computer Science and Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, supervised by Professor Sandra Gama (HUMAN Lab). His research lies at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Health and Privacy-Enhancing Technologies, focusing on the personalisation of clinical pathways and on gamification as a means of improving health literacy and patient engagement. He is a Guest Lecturer at Iscte — University Institute of Lisbon, teaching Operating Systems and Databases, and at Instituto Superior Técnico, where he teaches Databases (BSc) and Platforms for AI Systems (MSc), a course on the infrastructure of Artificial Intelligence systems — container environments, infrastructure-as-code, cloud platforms, Kubernetes orchestration, serverless AI, DevOps/MLOps and agentic AI. He holds an MSc in Information Systems Management from Iscte (2024, graded 19/20), with the dissertation "The Role of a Mobile Application in the Journey of a Surgical Patient". He currently co-supervises an MSc dissertation at Instituto Superior Técnico with Professor Sandra Gama, and was external supervisor of an undergraduate final project at Universidade Aberta, completed in 2026. He is the author of "Evaluating OK4Surgery: Hospital Patients Perspectives on Gamification", published in the International Journal of System of Systems Engineering (vol. 17, no. 3, Inderscience, 2026), co-authored with Nuno Geada and Bráulio Alturas. He has also worked on differentially private machine learning applied to surgical data, with Professor Paulo Carreira. Alongside his academic work, he is Founder and CEO of CODEBOYS Technology and Founder of HELY, with over fifteen years of experience building and leading digital platforms in healthcare and public administration. This dual academic and industrial perspective shapes a research approach oriented towards systems that are technically robust, scientifically sound and socially responsible. Research interests: Artificial Intelligence in healthcare · Gamification and patient engagement · Differential privacy and privacy-preserving machine learning · Digital clinical pathways · Human-Computer Interaction in health settings.
