Iscte joins the debate on the future of European University Alliances
Nuno Nunes,Pro-Rector for Societal Engagement, represented Iscte at the 6th Annual Meeting of the Forum of Portuguese Higher Education Institutions in European University Alliances (FOR.UE.PT), held on 22 September at the University of Aveiro.
The meeting brought together representatives from 26 institutions and included a remote address by the Secretary of State for Higher Education, Cláudia Sarrico.
Discussions focused on how to sustain Portuguese participation in the alliances beyond 2027. Key topics included national funding to complement European support, government recognition of the alliances and the alignment of credits and degrees across countries. According to the Secretary of State, the Government is currently assessing a support model for the institutions involved.
The programme also featured sessions on student involvement in alliance governance and on the internationalisation of Portuguese higher education, with a particular focus on promoting European alliances to universities in the United States.
