In TeamUp5G we believe that motivation from involvement and engagement is key to learning. We want to place creative young researchers in front of the real world, enabling them to work on real-life technical issues, working across multiple European countries and organizations, presenting at workshops in front of industrial users/stakeholders, and becoming involved in standardization activities. We also want to provide them with communications skills, the ability to work in groups and an understanding of integrity and ethics in research. The project focus is ultra-dense small cell systems as an important component in future heterogeneous 5G networks (commercial deployment in 2020) and beyond. TeamUp5G considers aspects such as enhanced multi-antenna techniques, efficient backhaul/fronthaul, massive MIMO, communications in the millimetre-wave bands and visible light communications, as well as spectrum sharing and aggregation to enhance system capacity, decrease delay and energy consumption, and improve overall service quality. The research team of 15 young researches supervised by committed experts from the industry and academia will advance the state of the art with the design of novel physical/link/medium access control algorithms and protocols to enhance capacity and user satisfaction, new dynamic spectrum management, opportunistic optimisation of radio resources and cognitive radio techniques, together with self-organization capabilities, with different levels of collaboration, and techniques and methodologies to save energy. Both mobile broadband and internet of things applications and traffic will be harmonised. The new developed techniques will be analysed by simulation and prototyping and some show-cases (immersive video, drones) will be developed to illustrate the novelty and applicability of our ideas. The consortium will train the young researchers on how to contribute and will actively participate in the activities of standardization bodies.

Estudo promovido pelo Plano Nacional de Leitura 2027 (PNL 2027) com a colabotação da Direção-Geral de Estatísticas da Educação e Ciência (DGEEC), e a Rede de Bibliotecas Escolares (RBE), sobre as práticas de leitura não escolares dos estudantes dos ensinos básico e secundário. A metodologia é quantitativa, de inquérito por questionário a uma amostra representativa dos vários níveis de ensino em estudo. A equipa de investigação conta com a consultoria de Isabel Alçada.

Despite Portugal’s peaceful environment and generous reception policies, it’s not immune to borderless invisible threat that is violent extremism, radicalization and terrorism. Destructive forces from extremist groups – within our country and abroad – currently poses a threat to the security and social cohesion of the Portuguese society. This proposal aims to prevent and counter extremism and radicalization in PT, by combining communication technology with a more coordinated and knowledge-based prevention effort. Project activities will include: 1. Innovative multi-level communication campaign designed to reach vulnerable individuals at risk of radicalisation and recruitment by extremists, by providing alternative or counter narratives and sharing moderate voices 2. Quantitative and qualitative evaluation of multi-level communication campaign, reach and impact 3. Establishment of a multi-stakeholder network that will offer both strategic advice & skills enhancement of professionals working in close contact with members of the public 4. Dissemination Action Plan preventing & countering extremism and radicalisation in Portugal, sharing good practices and lessons learned These activities will result in outputs: 1 x multi-level communication campaign with: o 3 x Micro-documentary o 4 x Small awareness films mobile/web o 3 x Social media Monitoring and Tracking Report o Social media contents o Offline activities with Press PR Actions and an Ambassadors Program o 1 x Web Portal “RESILIENT and UNITED” 1 x Quantitative and qualitative evaluation Report 5 x training sessions for professionals, teachers and volunteers 1 Final publication and Action Plan dissemination compiling best practises and lessons learned Direct benef: members of PT Islamic community, incl refugees (estim 15.000), 50 prof, 50 teachers, 25 volunteers. No âmbito do projeto europeu OSIRIS (Interreg Baltic Sea), o estudo visa melhorar a capacidade dos atores de inovação em aplicar abordagens de especialização inteligentes para enfrentar o desafio do envelhecimento da sociedade na região dos Bálticos. Para o efeito, o projeto visa aumentar a aceitação do mercado e o dimensionamento de inovações tecnológicas orientadas para o utilizador, que atendam às necessidades e preferências específicas da idade e que permitam aumentar significativamente a qualidade de vida da população em envelhecimento, incluindo o seu ambiente de convivência, saúde, segurança e lazer. O consórcio do projeto consiste em 13 parceiros diretos e 8 parceiros associados da Dinamarca, Finlândia, Estónia, Letónia, Lituânia e Rússia. Entre os parceiros diretos, seis universidades públicas representam os atores da hélice da academia, duas empresas privadas e três organizações de apoio às empresas correspondem aos atores da hélice empresarial e uma autoridade local e uma agência pública de inovação são os atores da hélice do governo.
