The research project focused on investigating how the concept of the metaverse may influence business-to-business (B2B) interactions in the telecommunications industry. The primary objective was to explore the potential impact of the metaverse, a virtual shared space created by the convergence of physical and virtual realities, on B2B relationships, communication, and collaboration within the telecommunications sector. By examining existing literature, conducting industry analysis, and engaging with relevant stakeholders, the project aimed to understand how the metaverse could transform B2B interactions, such as virtual meetings, conferences, and product demonstrations. It explored the potential for immersive and interactive experiences, enhanced virtual communication, and innovative B2B engagement models. The project sought to bridge the gap between traditional business practices and the emerging possibilities offered by the metaverse, identifying opportunities and challenges for telecommunications companies in leveraging this technology to enhance their B2B interactions. The research aimed to contribute to a deeper understanding of the potential role of the metaverse in reshaping the telecommunications industry and inform strategic decision-making for B2B engagement in the evolving digital landscape.

Global-MINDS integrates insights from Social & Cultural Psychology, offering high quality international teaching in English on issues of migration, diversity and inclusion, also identified as Sustainable Development Goals by the UN. The programme objectives are to equip students with the psychological knowledge, cultural sensitivity, and highest standard of research expertise to engage with complex social problems worldwide. Theory and practice are bridged via the master thesis and internship.  The fully accredited joint programme combines the Social & Cultural Psychology branches of four national Master programmes, integrating the expertise of all partners while offering diversity via three mobility paths of which one is a new path focusing on migrant health. Students complete a 2-year study programme with 120 ECTS, beginning semester 1 at either Iscte-University Institute of Lisbon (Portugal) or SWPS (Warsaw, Poland), moving then to either the University of Limerick (Ireland) or the University of Oslo (Norway) in Semester 2 and attending a joint summer school. Year 2 consists of a dissertation project and the internship in an NGO, organization, or intergovernmental agency.   A total of 100 scholarships are available of which 40 are full scholarships and 60 are tuition fee waivers. The worldwide network of 30 (non)academic Associate Partners, and numerous other partnerships, facilitates students' international master thesis research and provides internship opportunities.

Lisbon and Porto have received migrant flows, from both the Global North and Global South, Europe and non-Europe. Using an ethnographic approach, I will focus on migrant small business owners in two different neighbourhoods: Anjos (Lisbon) and Bonfim (Porto). This research aims to understand the migratory trajectories and modes of emplacement of migrants in their new cities. I also look at how these processes intersect with migration and urban policies. The aim is to generate knowledge to guide integrated public policies, taking into account the demographic deficit in Portugal.   Supervisores: Daniel Malet Calvo and Graça Índias Cordeiro

POIESIS project brings together seven partners from across Europe, who will study the impact of research integrity issues and societal engagement practices on trust in science. As societal dependence on sound scientific research and responsible innovation has become increasingly visible, concerns about public trust and mistrust in science have simultaneously been mounting. This highlights the crucial importance of the cultural authority of science. The debate about societal trust in science is characterised by three intuitively appealing assumptions: - First, that trust depends on scientists’ capacity to demonstrate high standards of research integrity and ethics, and that breaches of research integrity will lead to mistrust; - Second, that citizens’ and civil society’s involvement in co-creating research agendas and content makes research more relevant and responsive to society and consequently strengthens trust; - Third, that institutions can foster integrity and societal integration by enabling and supporting researchers to act responsibly.
