Abstract
Este livro é um apelo a que não nos acomodemos à ideia de que, na ciência e nas universidades, está tudo feito, sublinhando dois desafios que precisam de ser enfrentados. Primeiro, o da retoma do desenvolvimento do sistema científico, interrompido desde os tempos da Troica. É preciso recuperar os níveis de investimento em ciência, que regrediu para níveis de 1991, dar perspetivas de futuro aos investigadores e às unidades de investigação, reconhecer e reforçar o papel das universidades na investigação. Segundo, o da maior abertura da universidade ao mundo, usando as tecnologias digitais para inovar pedagogicamente e chegar mais longe, a novas geografias e novos públicos.
