Abstract
O presente texto pretende dar um contributo para situar contextos sociais de produção científica. A análise das condições em que a Antropologia (cultural e/ou social) surge em Portugal como área de conhecimento institucional
autónoma, e dotada por consequência de estruturas de reprodução próprias, fornece os dados básicos para equacionar os sucessivos parâmetros de enquadramento de uma ciência social. A especificidade que historicamente
vem caracterizando a Antropologia Física (Cunha 1982), não permite inserir esta componente de investigação na proposta de interpretação que se segue.
