Abstract
This study examines environmental accountability in coastal fisheries management, focusing on the Black Sea region. Drawing on literature, policy analysis, and stakeholder insights, it reveals how coastal fishing communities—despite their dependence on marine ecosystems—are often excluded from decision- making processes that shape their livelihoods. The findings highlight persistent gaps between sustainability policies and their implementation, including ecological degradation, weak institutional coordination, and unequal power relations.
