Abstract/Resumo
The H:OUSE Project is a key initiative funded by the European Union, aimed at addressing the complex challenges of housing integration for newcomers across Europe. Coordinated by Il Sestante (IT) and implemented by a consortium of partners including Artemisszió Alapítvány (HR), DORAS (IR), Glocal Factory (IT), ISCTE-IUL (PT), the Municipality of Ravenna (IT), Refugees Welcome Italy (IT), SECOND TREE (HE), and ZRC-SAZU (SL), the project focuses on exploring and developing Community Sponsorship schemes and similar initiatives to enhance access to suitable housing for newcomers in Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Slovenia. This research report highlights the significant challenges and obstacles to housing access in the involved territories, emphasising the need for context-specific solutions and the importance of a collaborative approach among all the stakeholders involved. Through strategic partnerships and capacity-building activities, the H:OUSE project aims to develop and test in 5 out of 6 project countries a set of tools to guide and support local, regional, and national authorities, private entities, civil society, and migrant communities themselves in developing innovative and tailor-made housing solutions. With strong support from involved stakeholders, based on thorough research and collected data, and leveraging the partners' experience, the project commits to expanding such initiatives, enhancing sponsor training, and supporting policy actions that promote welcoming and inclusive communities. With this document, we aim to provide a summary of the most relevant knowledge and experiences in Community Sponsorship, serving as a catalyst for designing and implementing high-impact initiatives.
