Abstract
Neste capítulo desenvolvemos uma análise reflexiva sobre o sistema de proteção em Portugal no quadro da União Europeia e numa perspetiva global da sociedade contemporânea.
Tratamos no texto as questões de autocritica ao sistema de proteção à criança na atualidade, com base nos valores e princípios democráticos, em particular dos direitos humanos e da cidadania social.
Procuramos deixar ao leitor elementos de reflexão sobre como devemos pensar hoje o sistema de proteção à criança, num modelo participativo e colaborativo, onde a Criança/Jovem ocupa o lugar principal.
