Abstract
L’Institut international de sociologie juridique (IISJ) d’Oñati est une réalisation scientifique unique en son genre. Il doit beaucoup de son succès actuel à l’énergie avec laquelle il a été mis en place par André-Jean Arnaud, son premier directeur scientifique. La présente contribution rappelle l’histoire de sa création et de ses débuts, ce qui est à la fois un juste hommage rendu à celui qui a été le principal acteur dans cette entreprise, et une belle occasion de retour réflexif sur un moment très particulier dans le développement récent des sciences humaines et sociales.
