Abstract
Este artigo tem como objetivo contribuir para uma compreensão aprofundada da situação da saúde materno-infantil na República da Guiné-Bissau (RGB), abordando a mortalidade materna, natimortalidade e outros desafios enfrentados pelas mulheres e crianças no contexto dos direitos humanos e da saúde sexual e reprodutiva. O estudo examina o progresso e as lacunas na implementação dos Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS) 3 e 5, sobre saúde e bem-estar, e sobre igualdade de gênero. O artigo utiliza uma metodologia qualitativa e baseia-se em entrevistas semiestruturadas a quatorze mulheres com filhos jovens, residentes na cidade de Bissau. Estas descrições são complementadas por dados de observação de terreno e ilustram os indicadores oficiais de saúde materno-infantil recolhidos através de pesquisa documental. Concluímos que a promoção da Saúde e Bem-estar (ODS 3) e da Igualdade de Gênero (ODS 5) na Guiné-Bissau é um processo multifacetado, ainda marcado por desigualdades, desafios culturais e fragilidades institucionais.
