Abstract
Numa perspetiva sociohistórica, analisa-se a génese e consolidação da sociologia da cultura em Portugal enquanto especialidade sociológica. A partir de contributos teóricos e metodológicos da sociologia da ciência, analisam-se a origem e o trajeto daquela especialidade, as bases institucionais em que assentou o seu desenvolvimento e os fatores externos e internos ao campo sociológico que favoreceram esse desenvolvimento. Identificam-se também os temas constitutivos da sua agenda de investigação, a importância relativa desses temas em termos de volume de publicação, as obras de referência e os contextos institucionais e científicos associados à formação dessa agenda temática.
