CV Summary

Margarida Barroso has a PhD in Sociology (Iscte, 2013) and is a researcher at the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology - University Institute of Lisbon. Her research focuses on work, organisations, gender, education, and social policies. In her doctoral thesis, she analysed the evolution of the quality of work in the context of an economic crisis, comparing the living and working conditions of Portuguese and Swedish managers in the same multinational company. In her post-doctoral research, she carried out comparative research into organisational strategies for adjusting to the economic crisis in southern Europe (Portugal, Spain, Greece). She is currently carrying out research into the promotion of quality of life in contemporary societies, looking at the relationship between quality of life, quality of work, skills adequacy and gender relations. She was a Marie Sklodowska-Curie researcher at the Autonomous University of Madrid (2021-2023), with a project on gender, migration and literacy. She has worked as a graduate trainee at EUROFOUND (Dublin, 2009), as a visiting doctoral student at the University of Gothenburg (Sweden, 2010), and as a visiting researcher at Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona, Spain, 2011).
