CV Summary

Diniz Lopes initiated his academic activities in 1997, being a Junior Researcher at Instituo de Ciências Socias, Universidade de Lisboa until 2000. At the same time, in 1998, he was hired by ISCTE-IUL where he developed his teaching and research activities. In 2007, he got his PhD in Social Psychology from the Departamento de Psicologia Social e das Organizações, Escola de Ciências Sociais e Humanas, ISCTE-IUL, Lisboa, where he is, presently, Assistant Professor, Head of the Department of Social and Organizational Psychology and Vice-Head of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities. Between 2010 and 2013 he was a post-doc fellow in the Universities Paris Ouest, Paris Descartes, Universidade do Porto. His present research interests focus on the analysis of commitment, infidelity, derogation of alternatives, stay-leave behaviors and pornography use within romantic relationships; the mechanisms used by common sense to validate everyday knowledge; as well as the application of statistical models to data analysis in Psychology. His works are published in different national and international scientific journals, such as Behavior Research Methods, PlosOne, The Journal of Sex Research, Archives of Sexual Behavior, Group Processes and Intergroup Relations, Cyberpsychology, Behavior and Social Networking, Personal Relationships, among others
