Dora Rebelo is a Psychologist ( Faculty of Psychology, University of Lisbon; Postgraduate degree in Family and Community Therapy at UAL; Master's degree in Systemic Therapy at the Autonomous University of Barcelona) and holds a PhD in Anthropology by Iscte-IUL. She is a full member of the Portuguese Order of Psychologists and is part of the board of the European Association of Community Psychology (ECPA).
She has over 20 years of experience in social and community intervention projects, as well as international humanitarian projects. She was a project coordinator in mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) from 2010 to 2017 and since then has worked as an independent consultant in MHPSS and Staff Care in humanitarian contexts.
She is an integrated researcher at CIES-Iscte since 2026, having previously participated in research projects at CRIA-Iscte (Livepolitics) and CIS-Iscte (JustFutures). In 2024-25 she was part of the external evaluation team of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation's Climate Participation Initiative. Her scientific interests lie at the intersection of community participation, solidarity, activist movements, and migrant justice.
Since 2018 she has been a Guest Assistant Professor at ISCTE-IUL (Master's in Humanitarian Action and Erasmus Mundus in Human Response) and has been a member of the teaching staff at he Postgraduate Program in Humanitarian Action at the University of Algarve since 2021.
She regularly provides training in Intercultural Competences and Trauma-Informed Care at various institutions, including ICAD, EAPN, Casa do Professor, NIPSA de Oeiras, among others.
She is also a member of SCRA - Society for Community Research and Action - and she is a regular collaborator at Forum Refúgio Portugal and Union of Refugees in Portugal (UREP).
