CV Summary

My research interests encompass the far-right party family as well as the politics of international immigration.

I authored and co-authored several papers in top journals on the topics that I am a specialist. Regarding international immigration, I published on the media effects on public concern with immigration (European Journal of Political Research), on Portugal and Spain’s policies of access to the national citizenships by foreign citizens (Citizenship Studies), on the politicisation of immigration from a European perspective (JCMS - Journal of Common Market Studies), on the development of the Portuguese (Mediterranean Politics) and French (Parliamentary Affairs) policies of immigration control.

On the politics of the far right, I explored the impact of the Front National on the French foreign policy during the crisis of the European asylum system in the mid-2010s (Geopolitics). Another research article compares the impact of the far-right parties on the policy of immigration control in France and Italy during the 2000s (Comparative European Politics).  The success of centre-right parties’ strategies towards far-right parties was explored in the French 2007 and 2012 presidential elections (Government and Opposition). Lastly, the electoral breakthrough of far-right parties have been examined in both Britain (Patterns of Prejudice) and in Portugal (Parliamentary Affairs).

I enjoy disseminating scientific research to non-academic audiences.
