Maria Pinto-Albuquerque is Assistant Professor at Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL) and researcher at ISTAR-IUL, collaborating with Bristol Cybersecurity Group (Univ. of Bristol, UK).

She conducts research in software engineeringincluding the topics: # requirements engineering, # serious games for interdisciplinary work, to improve software engineering processes, and to investigate how people perform certain tasks.

Her work focuses in creating tools and techniques to potentiate computer systems usage, by software engineers (that create and maintain these systems), as well as by all kinds of stakeholders (users, mangers). Her focus is in the relation of the human with computer system. In this context she has developed serious games and creativity techniques to promote an efficient, responsible, and secure use and development of computer systems. She is a member of the team that created and developed the cybersecurity awareness game, Decisions and Disruptions, http://www.decisions-disruptions.org/. 

Graduated in Applied Maths. and Comp. Science at Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, completed the MSc in Computing at Faculdade de Ciências, Universidade de Lisboa, and the PhD in Computer Science at the Lancaster University, UK. Is a member of  IEEE and the British Computer Society.
