CV Summary

Sandra Marques Pereira holds a PhD in Sociology from ISCTE (2010) and is a Research Fellow at DINÂMIA’CET-ISCTE/IUL, within the Cities and Territories research group. Between 2012 and 2022, she was a Visiting Professor in the Integrated Master’s in Architecture, where she taught Society and Architecture and Urbanism II. She is currently teaching Housing and Ways of Living in the Master’s in Urban Studies at FCSH/UNL and ISCTE.

Her research focuses on housing in its multiple dimensions, including ways of living and urban housing models, residential trajectories, public housing policies, the housing market, short-term rental accommodation, and urban transformations. She is co-coordinator of the WG Southern European Housing at the European Network for Housing Research (ENHR).

She has participated as team member in six FCT-funded projects on housing and urbanism and was Principal Investigator of the FCT project SIZA_3CITY – Álvaro Siza’s Collective Housing: projects, contexts and experiences (Porto–Lisbon–New York) (2022–2024). She has also collaborated in international projects such as InCITIES – Trailblazing Inclusive, Sustainable and Resilient Cities (HORIZON, 2022–2025) and COST Action European Middle Class Mass Housing (2019–2023). She was a visiting researcher at the Institut National d'études Démographiques (INED) in Paris.

She is the author of numerous national and international publications and conference papers and has received two awards for best doctoral thesis (IHRU 2011 and André Jordan 2012). She regularly coordinates and organizes scientific events at both national and international levels, including the Blended Intensive Programme “Housing Solutions in the 21st Century Cities” (2024), involving seven European universities.

Her work is distinguished by its strong interdisciplinary approach, particularly with architecture, and by her active participation in the public debate on housing, both in the media and as an invited speaker at conferences and debates.
