Abstract/Resumo
Web3 technologies, representing the next open, user-driven internet generation, provide innovative and advanced solutions to enhance adaptability, sustainability, and resilience in logistics businesses for this industry's fifth generation. The primary motivation of this study is to guide Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) in identifying the most suitable Web3 technologies for investment. This includes the necessary resources and techniques to manage increasingly complex and innovative supply chains, and how these innovations contribute to achieving Logistics 5.0. To achieve this, the study conducts a systematic literature review (SLR) of research from the past seven years, using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology. This review provides a comprehensive overview of case studies, technological applications in trucking logistics, and their impacts and outcomes. The analysis results present a conceptual framework that categorises the research identified in the SLR according to logistics areas for investment and the intended improvement goals. Key findings include identifying specific Web3 technologies that enhance operational efficiency, sustainability, and resilience in logistics. The study also highlights the potential effects of these technologies on LSPs and their supply chains. This study offers valuable insights for researchers, developers, and stakeholders, enabling them to explore potential Web3 solutions for investment, evaluate their potential impacts, and support the development of Logistics 5.0. The study further outlines limitations and suggests future research areas, revealing numerous opportunities from operational, tactical, and strategic perspectives in academia and industry.
