Abstract
This study aims at outlining the first acoustic characterization of the stressed oral vowels of Mirandese. Its primary function was the definition of a base phone set for a TTS system. The values of the first two formants of each vowel were measured, and in cases where doubts arose, statistical tests were conducted to determine vowel distinctiveness.
