Abstract
O investimento na formação baseia-se no pressuposto de que esta vai contribuir significativamente para melhorar o desempenho dos colaboradores e aumentar a integração da produtividade individual e grupal com a produtividade organizacional, a qual resulta de interações complexas entre envolvente, tecnologia, organização e pessoas.
Todavia, inúmeros estudos internacionais continuam a revelar que aquele pressuposto está muito longe de corresponder à realidade; isto é, o retorno desse investimento fica muito aquém daquilo que seria de esperar.
Atualmente é possível sistematizar o conhecimento que temos sobre este problema e dele inferir algumas orientações cuja aplicação pode contribuir para melhorar a eficácia da formação e o desempenho.
