“Young generations are entering the law profession in a context of profound change, accelerated in the last two decades by along others: global competition, commercial professionalism, diffusion of international legal education and the increase of soft skills. In this paper we focus our attention in the establishing of voluntary activities in the law student’s curriculum in Portuguese faculties. Two main activities are explored: mainstream voluntary activities open to all type of students and pro bono activities aimed for law students only. We analyse the impact of these activities in the passage from academic to professional socialization combining observation of the curriculum and interviews with professors, students and lawyers in their first years of profession.”
